The whole fictional Panama-Columbia ferry deal in 2012 seems to have been a scam from the start perpetrated by Pan American Seaways and Panamanian tour operator Aventuras 2000.
Pan American Seaways had a website prior to and during the time the ferry was supposed to start or be operating at panaferry.com. Supposed Pan American Seaways "reservation agents" were able to be contacted at the e-mail address of reservas@panaferry.com and responded with official sounding information about the service, including its prices. The responding e-mails from these "reservation agents" always seemd to include a notation at the bottom referencing the following virtual tour of the Nissos Rodos that was produced by Hellenic Seaways:

Unfortunately an archive of the panaferry.com website was not captured. The site is currently owned by service that buys expired websites and offers them for sale.
The website may have looked something like this archive of a partially-finished website for Pan America Seaways being developed by VNS International :

Some of the images on that site appear to have been Photoshopped or otherwise manipulated. Evidence to come ...
