Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) stopped by the Sean Hannity Show Friday afternoon to offer his thoughts on the rodeo clown who sparked an uproar [ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/11/obama-rodeo-clown_n_3741218.html ] at the Missouri State Fair with an impersonation of President Barack Obama.
The public reaction to the invitation within the Lone Star state has largely been positive, the congressman said, but reactions from left-leaning states have been much less supportive.
Noting that Texans poked fun at former President George W. Bush (a Texas native) during his presidency, the congressman dismissed the uproar as "false outrage."
"We've got some serious issues out there ... and they're focusing on a clown," Stockman told Hannity. "This is more laughable and silly to me than anything. It's a sleight of hand to shift topics from the IRS scandal, from Benghazi."
