Baby Panda Born At Taipei Zoo, Yuan Zai, Meets Mom For The First Time (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Welcome to the world baby panda cub.

The Taipei Zoo is celebrating its newest resident, a one-month old giant panda nicknamed Yuan Zai. The little cub was born to parents Yuan Yuan and Tuan Tuan in July and is the first panda ever born in Taiwan.

There are fewer than 1,600 pandas left in the wild and the animals are especially hard to raise in captivity. Pandas have a very small breeding window and when cubs are born they're highly susceptible to disease and smothering by their much larger mothers.

Grab the tissue box and get ready to cry big, fat happy-tears.

Taiwan's first newborn giant Panda was officially reunited with her mom on August 12 after a month of separation. In a YouTube video posted by the Taipei Zoo, tiny Yuan Zai's mother cuddles her close for the first time. Their loving embrace is a sight that will weaken even the coldest of hearts.

Yuan Zai has been away from mother Yuan Yuan since her birth on July 6. After suffering an injury only a few days into her life, the little cub was moved to an incubator and required constant monitoring and care. Caretakers reintroduced Yuan Zai and her mother on August 11, but kept the two separate to gauge Yuan Yuan's reaction. Take a look at footage of their first meeting below.
