The former executive director of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexting an underage teen.
Scott Hounsell, 30, was arrested in Los Angeles at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, according to City News Service. LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh told the news service, "Officers conducted a child sexual exploitation investigation. During their interview with the 16-year-old victim, she identified the suspect, Scott Hounsell, as the person who had engaged in sexually explicit chats with her via a social media website."
Hounsell was arrested and booked on suspicion of sending harmful matter to a child, and his bail was set at $40,000. He was released at 4:45 p.m. Friday. There were few other details about the case or when it took place.
Housell had been an employee of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County up until June 15 when he resigned, according to a statement from the group. The statement added: "Until we were contacted by LAPD today, we had absolutely no knowledge of any information relating to this case. We take this issue very seriously and will fully cooperate with law enforcement any way we can."
