"Phoenix-based Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. has completed its acquisitions of McMoRan Exploration Co. in New Orleans and Plains Exploration & Production Co. in Houston.

The McMoRan Exploration transaction was completed Monday and the Plains Exploration deal on Friday.

The $19 billion in deals gives the global copper, gold and molybdenum mining company a portfolio of oil and gas assets and re-unites McMoRan Exploration with Freeport-McMoRan.
