Congressman Ruiz lends his voice to Palm Springs marriage rally

Atttendees at the marraige equality rally on March 26 can expect to hear words of support and encouragement from the newly elected congressman in California’s 36th District.

Rep. Dr. Raul Ruiz will speak during the event, which will take place at 6 p.m. at the Riverside County Courthouse (3255 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs). Everyone is welcome to participate in what George Zander of Palm Springs Equaltiy California describes in a news release as a ”peaceful show of solidarity.”

The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments the same day on the Prop 8 case, which in 2008 banned same-sex marriage in California. On March 27, the court will take on the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act. A decision in both cases is expected by the end of June.
