Here's an interesting story which has, at least, some relavance to the SGLN story. As a health care provider, I was asked to see a patient recently with chest pain. What was the chest pain likely from? Stress. What was the stressor? An audit.

The patient tells me that his organization had a financial audit which was supposed to take 3 months to complete beginning in August, 2012. Most of it was done within three months which agrees with much of what has been stated on here as a reasonable timeframe. However, the government and other entities keep asking for more and more documents so that the audit can be completed. He is pulling out his hair trying to find the supporting documents they are requesting. And they are digging for documents that go back 10 years or more. So we are now, what, 8 months into this organization's audit which still isn't done. And he's having chest pain over it......

True story. If I told you the name of the organization, you would all know it and likely have a good laugh. But I think that would be a HIPAA violation to disclose and might help you identify who the patient is.
