GOSY is doing what Toyota can't do. It's creating a Human Assistance Robot that does something and has value in the marketplace. Major corporations have tried, and I haven't found one that has succeeded.

The CareBot is ready for Beta Testing.

HAR (Home Assistant Robot), from Toyota was released in 2007.

This is a prototype. It is showing off it's skill in carrying a pre-arranged tray of dishes from the table to a counter five feet away.

"The robot can run 30 to 60 minutes per charge and can be expected to arrive at homes in the next decade for $10,000."

The CareBot is expected to arrive at homes within two years. It will be priced at around $12,000 and it will actually DO something. It runs 12-14 hours per charge which means it will most definitely be able to last longer than Grandma can. It doesn't seem that that is the case for Toyota's HAR.

Here is the link to the Toyota site search for "human assistant robot"

Four New Types of Robots Aimed for Commercialization from 2013

Which says absolutely nothing about the capabilities of the robot and doesn't link to the videos.

So Toyota started to work on a HAR in 2007 and says it is "aimed" for commercialization.

No details

No demo

No pricing

Why so hush hush?

Two possibilities -

1) It doesn't work.

2) It has terminator capability and it's top secret.

This is a good list of Robots in development:

The link on the comparison page was dead so I guess the HAR is too.
