Prince, WWI Hero
Prince, a collie-Irish terrier mix (not pictured) was heartbroken when his owner, Jimmy Brown, joined the British army and headed off to the trenches of World War I.
Not one to sit and mope for too long, Prince slipped out of his home and, the story goes, somehow managed to find his way to the front lines, where he was reunited with Jimmy.

Joker, a cocker spaniel, was not content to sit at home while his owner, Army Capt. Stanley C. Raye, headed off for military service during World War II. Joker sneaked out of the house, stowed away on a ship, and, using only his nose, located Raye on a secret base in the South Pacific.
