Yes, that contract is important cause without one you have nothing but I do think that GESI still runs without the ties if they would turn to regular waste. I do not know if structural adjustments need to be made for that but as a gasifying industry GESI should have multiple options in terms of waste processing, if they so choose to. If understood correctly, waste tires for example still put out a higher BTU than regular waste but is lower than creosote ties.

Tire Incineration

Rubber tires have a very high BTU content which makes them a good source of fuel for cogeneration (the joint production of useful heat and electricity) incinerator facilities or other industries that require incinerators, such as paper mills or cement kilns. A BTU is the amount of heat required to change the temperature of one pound of water one degree. The BTU of tires is approximately 15,000 per pound. It is higher than some types of coal and about twice as high as garbage. The tire-to-energy facility in Sterling is the only facility permitted to burn tires in Connecticut.
