Torrent Power has installed and energized the first two circuits of the first ACCC conductor transmission line in India.
The company installed the ACCC 629kcmil Lisbon size conductor to double the capacity of an existing 132kV transmission line between two substations in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
CTC Global (CPTCQ) produced the ACCC composite core and the finished conductor was manufactured by its partner Sterlite Technologies.
Under the supervision of CTC Global, Sterlite Technologies delivered the project.
CTC Global installation supervisor Tom Walton said the company doubled the transmission line capacity without modifying or reinforcing the existing lattice towers to meet the growing power demand in the industrial area.
"With ACCC, Torrent Power Ltd can keep the power flowing at a high capacity through its transmission lines, as well as reduce the number of line losses, which is important in a city of this size." Walton added.
According to Torrent Power, it is also planning for a second installation by the end of the year to increase the capacity of the grid.
US-based CTC Global has developed and owns all rights to ACCC technology.
