because my investment was held abroad a w-ben form should of been completed yearly because the brokers did not update this i was liable to pay a withhold tax of so many thousands, i could not keep up with this and they were leading me on, so i have now reported this to the city of london police, i hopeing they can achieve a result for me i have now given them details of account numbers where the money was sent which was three Asian locations two in Hong Kong and one in the Phillapines, a question i want to ask is what are my chances of getting some or if all of the money i have lost up to £13,000.00 and at the moment i am paying a £8,000.00 pound loan and at least i have lost £5,000.00 Personal finance, it has been a difficult 2011 i hope i have some chance for 2012.

I am very sorry to learn of these circumstances.

What was the response of the bank and police when you reported the matter to them?

I thankyou for your prompt response, first of all i am in debt with the bank so reporting this to the was very uncomfortable for me they help they provided was how to make the payments easier for me i now owe the Nat west bank £8,000.00 they also say under their instructions their staff have done no wrong. they provided help to deal with this tragedy emotionally, and advised to report the incident to Action fraud, the report is forwarded on to the police and i sent a police investigating number.

After a year the police are only just onto the case of which they for now require Bank details such as acct numbers and addresses.

Posted by JB-Umphrey 286 days and 2 hours ago. Expert's Answer Indeed, others have characterized it as a SCAM. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=61659415

You can also report this matter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. You can do that at this link: http://www.sec.gov/complaint/tipscomplaint.shtml

GENM.OB is still listed on the U.S. Stock Exchange so there may be a fair chance that you can get some of your money back (this assumes that they have assets): http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GENM.OB

You should not delay in reporting your situation to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Dear JB-Umphrey i thankyou for your update. I have in the past spoken to Genmed Holding to the treasurer of the company also the company legion. I was sent share certificates from the Matsui asset mge has a copy i had these certicates checked they

representative of the company my holding of 12666 shares also holding of warrants converted to shares,

Genmed informed me these were fraudalent so i could not sell or convert them this would be a criminal offence, i think in the past i have reported the complaint to sec.com

and they talked to me by phone warning me not to send any money but this was to late

am afraid, but i can try again, also a representative from Eastern Equity Div based in Hong Kong said to me by phone the cause of the problem came from Genmed who introduce Boiler-room companies to raise money for the company so through brokers around the world they sell shares cheaply at first, and leave foreign shareholders to struggle.

I am querying the answers to my question, your advice is to report the fraud to the US sec, do they do a thorough investigation by investigating Genmed because most likely

they could be behind boiler room scams.

also when you say they could pay out what proof would i need to provide because when i approached them, they do not have me registered as a shareholder, i thankyou for your help but i really wanted your expert advice i am pleased the police is now investigating and it has been a year i have covered everything in my power to check my status and everything which is genuine i am by nature a very cautious person, i just want to know do have any chance of getting any money back or have you experience cases on investors receiving any compensation.

Accepted Answer Yes, the SEC will investigate. The thoroughness of the investigation will depend upon what proof you have about the purchase and to show that you actually gave them money in exchange for shares.

Sometimes investors are repaid if there are assets to make the payments. Sometimes the investors receive partial compensation (e.g., Bernard Madoff http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/brokerage/2011-08-16-madoff-victims-denounce-ruling_n.htm

Sometimes there is no money to recover and the investors do not get paid.

Hello JB, good day, i was quoted by e-mail to find out how i got on with your advice of which was helpful, so far i have not heard any update from the police just before Christmas. I wrote to US Securities and Exchange commission reporting my circumstances and i mentioned Mitsui assett management and Eastern equity Division

they said the two companies are not listed in the America and sent me a link on financial scams, and secondly you mentioned about the possibility of compensation through Securities Investor Protection corp this procedure they told me only protects

clients associated to registered American companies of which the two above are not

registered, also i mentioned in the report about Genmed Holding they gave me details

of the Transfer agent of which i have spoken to them in the past and my details are fraudalent i.e share certificates, the only proof i have is the brokers in london Pacific continental went in to liquidation and they were forced to shut down by the Financial services compensation scheme i do have details from the fscs showing proof of me purchasing monise to buy shares.

when i wrote to you in January i was hopeing their may be a chance of some repreive but i think the money i sent to those crooks i will never see again it is a hard lesson to learn

but i have to look on the brightside and say they won't get me again, the only thing i can try and do is try and negotiate a reduction in my loan may be a stop on my interest, because the loan is holding me back, i will do my best. Thanks for trying.
