I don't know if this is possible.

The acquiring company purchases controlling interest ie for one billion. ( Limits their initial investment)
The established outstanding trails brought to a mutual agreement as to completion dates and results
The results valued at that time paid at market value .

if,The market value is in excess of the acquiring company a pooling or merger or any other financial arrangement should take place.
