John, we've owned the omega 8005 for a few years now. It's well made, not difficult to clean, and is still going strong. We decided on that one because from what I could read, the masticating type yielded the highest quality juice. And it could also handle wheat grass.

However, we don't use it as often as we should and I think that is mainly due to the pain in the rear it is to push leafy greens down the small diameter chute. And wheat grass... bought some seed, grew a seed starter tray full of it, juiced the whole thing and got about a shot glass of juice.

Recently my daughter was given a less expensive braun centrifigul juicer with a much larger diameter chute that I got to try. It was so much easier to feed produce down the wider chute and the yield did not seem any less than with the one we use.

I like eddie's recommendation on the Breville and we've been looking at them for a few days now. Some thoughts on the quality of juice. The nutrients begin to lose their value immediately after juicing and they say to drink it within about 15 mins of juicing. Well, it will take that long or longer to juice with the omega so the Breville will get the juice where it belongs quicker. I'm hoping that would somewhat offset the difference in quality. Besides, if it's a pain to use, you're not going to juice as often. Also, I like the Breville brand. We've got a toaster oven made by Breville (getting away from the microwave to reheat food) and it has been an excellent performer. We use the heck out of it. Produces much less heat than the oven and you don't have to radiate your food.

The omega does other things that the centrifical can't do, like making nut butter. We've never even tried that feature actually. For us and our preferences, we will be buying the wider chute breville brand juicer.

you can read the reviews on amazon

The elite is $300.. ouch.. this one is half the price but no doubt not as good quality. the reviews were not bad though. Think I'll take a chance on saving $150, hope I don't regret it.

Anyone on the board ever own one?

btw, going raw got my wife off of 5 medications and returned her blood/sugar and blood pressure levels to normal. We got serious about eating raw when the doctor told her she was still getting worse and he'd have to increase the doses of her toxic medications. screw those jerks
