This is just one thing that GTGP gets when MSE is acquired.
MSE’s internationally recognized team of aeronautical and aerospace professionals is successfully conducting cutting-edge research related to space transportation, subsonic/supersonic/hypersonic flight, and advanced propulsion and energy concepts. Current projects hold the potential for revolutionary breakthroughs. Construction of a prototypic hypersonic wind tunnel at the MSE facility represents the most significant wind tunnel advancement in 50 years and the nation’s only program of this nature. The hypersonic wind tunnel (when completed)represents the world’s most advanced ground test capability to develop hypersonic flight systems and will ensure U.S. leadership in hypersonic flight technology.
The research by MSE in this field of hypersonic flight is ongoing. The $23,000,000 contract awarded to MSE last year is for that research, and for the completion of the hypersonic wind tunnel construction. This wind tunnel holds the potential for revolutionary breakthroughs. Construction of a prototypic hypersonic wind tunnel at the MSE facility represents the most significant wind tunnel advancement in 50 years and the nation’s only program of this nature. The hypersonic wind tunnel (when completed) represents the world’s most advanced ground test capability to develop hypersonic flight systems and will ensure U.S. leadership in hypersonic flight technology. The wind tunnel is a necessity to test a new generation of missiles, space vehicles and aircraft using new propulsion technology. It will guarantee MSE, or whomever owns them, huge future revenue (government contracts) in this cutting-edge field.
"This places MSE in a very high-profile position with the national aerospace industry," said Dave Micheletti, head of MSE's Aerospace Division
From the 2012 ISSUE PAPER: Hypersonic Technology and Development: Imperatives Critical to U.S. National Security and Aerospace Superiority, one of their stated priorities is on meeting "Anti-Access/Area Denial Challenges”. "Hypersonics technology promises to be integral to this new strategy by potentially helping the U.S. project power from standoff distances or eliminating threats before the enemy can deny our forces access."

Of course, if MSE is not the acquisition, then none of this will mean a thing to us, but if so, then a strong future revenue flow will come from MSE's current, strong relationship with the aerospace sector.
They have been working on this technology for thirty years already. They are not about to throw it all away by not funding it into the future. No way. Not if America wants to maintain their superiority on the planet.
