United Ethanol: Tight Supply Of Corn Oil

"I’m pleased to report 2011 was a very successful
year at United Ethanol. We produced 43,484,079
gallons of denatured ethanol, and sold 121,923
tons of dry distiller’s grain (DDG), 6,757 tons of
wet distiller’s grain, and 60,703 tons of liquefied carbon dioxide. We also finished our first full
year of corn-oil production, extracting 8,565,067
pounds of corn oil.
Buyers of ethanol were very aggressive, especially
in the fourth quarter of 2011, in anticipation of
the elimination of the “blenders’ credit.” However,
these excessive purchases hurt margins in the new
year throughout the country. As a result, production,
industry wide, has slowed, but the values of
co-products like DDG and corn oil are rebounding
due to the now-tight supply."

"United Ethanol finished up our first full year of corn-oil production,
extracting 8,565,067 pounds of corn oil. This was the fi rst cornoil
truck loaded at United Ethanol following the installation of corn
oil extraction a year ago. The load in this photo was headed for
use in biodiesel production. United Ethanol assistant manager,
Dan Shickles, left, is pictured here with the truck driver."
