It is institutional buy, after the earning release he wants to short normal margin will be 50 % of price but by this way it will be way less. It will limit his loss, he does not want open end risk.
Institution sell puts when they want to accumulate stock. They rarely buy calls.
Since he will make money while it is going down, then they will cover when most of us throw towel, and guess what people short at that level and then they run the price and screw on the way up.
