and 6 months 1.6 bill vs 1.15 bill for the comparable period ending 3/31/12. That's a 39 percent increase. as an aside, I haven't seen it in a long time, but AAPL has a fiscal year end of the last Saturday in September - 9/24/11 for last year and 9/25/10 for the previous year.
Their year over year r&d increase is about 33% then 36% but I think a percent of sales is a more accurate measurement.
as for the machines, I think they would go into PP&E. Net PP&E was up from 4.8 bill to 7.8 bill from 9/10 to 9/11, with another bill increase for the 6 months end 3/12.
Watts, they would be buying the machines though, right?
difficult to conclude anything, but did we really expect to see in the footnotes that r&d was up because they are testing liquidmetal?
