Actually, if there's been multiple entities, counterfeiting MDMN shares with impunity for years, and the company is aware of it, but has turned a blind eye, success (if Brigadoon does emerge from its slumber in 2012), will only worsen the situation.

And while it's true that since there is not likely any NSS at all in MDMN, it has nothing to do with their business, it does provide a convenient distraction for the company, which 10 days after JJ supposedly arrive to sign a contract, has provided no updates on the situation.
