The FDA is Killing You -

num1inv' on 'Cancer' thank you -
I second that.

I've personally suffered from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) living in Canada where we definately don't get enough sunlight (skin exposure) in the winter. One of the main things I take now is liquid vitamin D3. Pills aren't as effective as some may not even break down internally.

I also recall a similar story about Australia where women were told not to keep there children in the sun and the kids started getting rickets at a young age.

As far as dosage, I know that 400IU is definitely not enough... I've heard of anywhere from 1,000IU to 10,000IU per day. I will caution against too much though. I picked up an old book on vitamins (dated about 40 yrs ago) while backpacking Ecuador a couple years ago and recall reading about vitamin D poisoning where too much can lead to severe headaches and other issues.

Remember that Vitamin D is different from others, such as vitamin C. Where with 'C' the excess passes through urine but with 'D' it is stored within the body. Also A,D,K are fat soluble, not water soluble. It would be useless to take vitamin D without taking adequate fat content to make it usable with the body. I personally use Cold-Pressed Flax Seed Oil (salmon oil = disgusting burps lol).

A healthy, fully functioning body is the best antidote for any sickness!

Cheers all, and take ur vitamins!!! :))
