BioMed Realty Trust, Inc. is a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on acquiring, developing, owning, leasing and managing laboratory and office space for the life science industry. The Company’s tenants include biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, scientific research institutions, government agencies and other entities involved in the life science industry. As of December 31, 2010, its portfolio consisted of 85 properties, representing 147 buildings with an aggregate of approximately 12.2 million rentable square feet. The Company’s properties are located in markets established as centers for scientific research, including Boston, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York/New Jersey. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company acquired approximately 1.5 million rentable square feet of laboratory and office space.
