Junior mining companies are required to secure numerous permits before they can begin mining.

They must file an EIS (Environment Impact Statement)

the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 ("CERCLA" or "Superfund") which regulates and establishes liability for the release of hazardous substances;
the U.S. Endangered Species Act;
the Clean Water Act;
the Clean Air Act;
the U.S. Resource Conservative and Recovery Act ("RCRA");
the Migratory Bird Treaty Act;
the Safe Drinking Water Act;
the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act;
the Federal Land Policy and Management Act;
the National Environmental Policy Act; and
the National Historic Preservation Act.
