White House to Honor Lighting Science Group CEO Jim Haworth as a "Champion of Change"

WHAT: Satellite Beach, Florida resident Jim Haworth will be honored at the White House on Thursday, November 3rd as a Champion of Change. The recognition will come at the first part of a day of activities the White House is calling "Make it in America," which will bring together American leaders helping to create high-quality jobs in the United States.

The White House Champions of Change Initiative profiles Americans from all walks of life helping the country rise to the challenges of the 21st century. These Champions of Change are doing extraordinary things in their communities working to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world. Mr. Haworth is being recognized for his work as chairman and chief executive officer of Lighting Science Group, a leading Florida-based LED lighting company. Under Mr. Haworth's leadership the Company has grown from 200 to 1000 employees in just the past year, demonstrating that the United States can lead in clean technology development and manufacturing while creating jobs in the process. Mr. Haworth will meet with White House officials to discuss his efforts and identify ways the federal government help support the growing adoption of ultra-efficient LED lighting.
