Is the creation story recorded in a French cave?

Over 30,000 years ago, a spectacular 20-foot-long scene was painted onto the wall of France’s Chauvet's Hillaire by early humans. Could this unusual cave art illustrate the original story of creation? So claim Daryl Breese and Gerald D’Aous, the authors of God’s Steed – the Key to World Peace (© 2011).

The Ardèche Gorges in France is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Europe with spectacular limestone cliffs towering up to 1,000 feet above the meandering river below. Here the Chauvet cave – the Cave of the Forgotten Dreams – was found in 1994.

The artists who produced these unique paintings used techniques not often seen in other cave art. Many of the paintings appear to have been made only after the walls were scraped clear of debris and concretions. This left a smoother and noticeably lighter area upon which the artists worked. Similarly, a three dimensional quality is achieved by incising or etching about the outlines of certain figures. This visually emphasizes some of the animals and allows torch light to cast shadows about the edges.

Hundreds of animal paintings have been cataloged, depicting at least 13 different species, including some rarely or never found in other ice age paintings. Rather than depicting only the familiar animals of the hunt that predominate in Paleolithic cave art, i.e. horses, cattle, reindeer, etc., the walls of the Chauvet Cave include many predatory animals: cave lions, panthers, bears, owls, and cave hyenas. There are also two unidentifiable images that have a vaguely butterfly shape to them. This combination of subjects has led experts in prehistoric art and cultures to believe that there was likely a ritual, shamanic, or magical aspect to these paintings.

Genesis of the World, according to the authors, appears to be the beginning of perennial philosophy and subsequent scripture. The star of this magical scene is a Pegasus – a universal angelic being who symbolizes the spiritual essence of both God and man. God's Steed is the Creator's Holy Spirit in this Chauvet masterpiece, say the authors. Located by design in the Hillaire Chamber- it intentionally overlooks the cave's sinkhole. The shaman used this site's geography, contours, reliefs and spectacular abyss to stage a most complete creation story. This cave's water path exit and darkness are symbolic of the River Styx and Hades/Hell. It’s a vivid reminder of our future and most certainly used for ceremonial burial- explaining the complete absence of human bones.

"The Angel of the Lord's presence at this original Story of Creation may help explain Genesis 1:26 from the Bible. "Let us make man in our own image after our likeness. Image/likeness here refers to spiritual being, not the temporary body. Angels indeed predate mankind, attending our Creation."

God's Steed- Key to World Peace is a unique non-fiction book that cites scripture, lore, science, many witnesses and a plethora of cherubim graphics. To purchase the book, click here.
