Driving Open Road: Tom Ortenberg takes the wheel of AMC-Regal Distribution Co-Venture


An open road signals full speed ahead, and so it is for Open Road Films, the new distribution co-venture of AMC Entertainment Inc. and Regal Entertainment Group, the country’s two largest theatrical exhibition companies.

Announced earlier this year, Open Road has already acquired a number of projects and has its first release, Killer Elite, due in theatres on Sept. 23. Veteran distribution executive Tom Ortenberg, who spent well over a decade at Lionsgate, is behind the wheel as CEO, and the company has ample options to park product thanks to the approximate 11,000 screens AMC and Regal control.
