Did God "comply" when jets
became weapons on 9/11?

Does Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback endorse the idea that secularism brought about the events of 9/11?

That's one conclusion to draw from Olathe News reporter Rick Babson's account .. http://www.kansascity.com/2011/01/11/2577533/rick-babsons-mirror-on-olathe.html .. of an inauguration-week prayer service at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Babson writes that Brownback quoted Billy Graham's daughter Anne Graham Lotz, who took the view that the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, were a warning about ungodliness.

Writes Babson:

[Brownback] borrowed from an interview done with Billy Graham's daughter shortly after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

A journalist asked her how God could let this happen. He recalled that Graham's daughter said we as a country had told God to get out of our government, our schools, our businesses and our lives and that he basically complied.

Brownback was referring to an interview .. http://tiny.cc/bvc3r .. that Lotz gave to The Early Show on September 13, 2001. Lotz reacted to a question about the anger people were feeling and the notion that "If God is so good, how could God let this happen?"

I say God is also angry when he sees something like this. I would say also for several years now, Americans in a sense have shaken their fist at God and said, God, we want you out of our schools, our government, our business, we want you out of our marketplace. And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life, removing his hand of blessing and protection. We need to turn to God first of all and say, God, we're sorry we have treated you this way and we invite you now to come into our national life. We put our trust in you. We have our trust in God on our coins. We need to practice it.

Brownback, a Catholic with close ties to evangelicals, concluded the prayer service by stating, "Goodness comes before greatness." It's one of the senator turned governor's popular refrains. In 2007, Brownback delivered the line ..
.. "Goodness leads to greatness" at a rally in Nashville hosted by nutbag preacher Lou Engle.

A founder of the TheCall Ministries, which is based in Kansas City, Engle is the knuckle-dragging troglodyte who endorsed Uganda's barbaric laws against homosexuals by making a visit .. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/03/world/africa/03uganda.html .. to the country last year. During the governor's race, Brownback agreed with a constituent .. http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2010/09/sam_brownback_admits_nutbag_pr.php .. who told him that Engle's views worried her. But Brownback, who roomed .. http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2010/05/apocalyptic_preacher_says_he_used_to_trade_dreams_with_sam_brownback.php .. in Washington, D.C., with Engle for a time, has not formally distanced himself the minister's bug-eyed and blood-infatuated brand of ministry.
