Clean Energy Earnings Roundup

Is it misleading for him to say "Gross margin was a measly 2% of revenue" when what's on page 6 of the presentation adjusts for non-cash items? And the largest portion was warrants (the pps during that year-ago period was somewhat lower - $0.98-$1.03 - giving less of a "hit" to results)! That means that if pps had been in a similar range, rather than the $1.48-$1.54 we had on 6/30/11 we would have reported better even by GAAP standards.

It's Catch-22 - do things that help share price rise and we hammer you on the balance sheet and the pundits cherry pick to suit their bias?

Earnings Call 1st Quarter Fiscal 2012 August 9, 2011 PDF

If one insists on GAAP reconciliation then I think the comparisons earnings should also be GAAP rather than operating. In that case we wouldn't have much of a miss.

Cherry picking which stats to use to support a bias?

Using the adjusted figures on that page we went to 11.2% YoY from 3.1%, a more than triple improvement! A lower PPS would have made it look even better!

I still can't forgive DJ the "best quarter ever" comment from the prior CC and then report results like this though.
