I just got back from the demo.
It was very exciting, well put together, although it didn't start til about 10:30. They also had some ridiculously delicious catering.
I took as many pictures as I could and will upload those later hopefully along with some video I took and sometime my friend will give me a link when he uploads his.
I met Andrew, Mr Bourque, and Christine Johanson with their global affairs. There were others with the company that I don't remember. NBC2 was there filming everything. I don't know very much about guns and ammunition so forgive me on that, but everything they shot and blew up was simply amazing.
Surprisingly there was a large amount of boat industry people there. At one point Mr Bourque commented that one of the boat companies just got an order for a large amount of boats and they were looking at putting the Kryron armor on the boats, the representative was very impressed and mentioned he would like to order and would get with their people. I had heard that the largest plate that Bourque makes is not large enough for the boat company and needs to be bigger for orders. The boat armor is new and today was the first day it had ever been tested. There was a representative from most of the SW FL agencies as well as SRATS.
They shot each plate and then brought it up for us to examine. On the personal protection, I saw 116 (or 110?) handgun rounds put into one plate and took it like a champ, hardly a dent in the plate. Into another personal plate were .223 high speed rounds that only made impact dents. I saw an armor piercing 50 caliber get stopped in the back plate of the fat boy, it just stuffed itself into the armor and that was basically it. Then they took the plate with the 50 cal bullet in it and buried a grenade and set it off, the plate basically just warped some. Then they took the same plate and put it directly ontop of a pipe bomb with 8oz of c4 with nails wrapped around. They had also put a piece of current helicopter armor next to it and detonated it. The kryron separated into layers as it should to absorb the impact and the helo armor basically shattered and disintegrated. Mr Bourque had mentioned that the helicopter that went down, was during the testing of their helicopter parts, specifically he mentioned the rotor testing. At the end of the day, I can in complete confidence say, "Buy BORK." Two investors were talking to him and when they were done he said, "Just hold on and wait to see what I have in store for you."
This is all I can really think of atm. It just amazes me at what this stuff does. He did say one of the reasons NIJ is taking so long is because before kryron, there is really no standard that is like this and kryron basically set a standard so they went even further in depth with their processes for NIJ.
I'll work on the pics/vids and try to get them up later.
