I have found over the many years in trading the 10Day Moving Average helps when you sift though the thousands of tickers that come up each trading day on numerous trading systems. But, this should only be PART of your investment strategy.
In regards to charting you need to know the Accumulation/Distribution and how this fits into the overall scheme of things went it comes to finding picks be it Day Trades or Multi-Day Trades. There are extreme's in A/D both positive and negative, it's good to know what your getting into.

<How important> It's very important during trading hours for a fast skim of what's being said, how many pages are there for the day, who's playing, all this is mentioned in the iBox. But, most importantly, on whether or not to buy based on ALL available data!
