Note that AOK works very closely with the government. They may even be part of the government. I wasn't able to find any sort of website in the couple hours I researched into them. The key here is that AOK was making a very big effort in reducing costs for patients on the supply side. This was in 2003. I have no idea what has happened since, but the 4 month trial period was very successful. Also notice that this SAP technology can be deeply integrated into the systems of healthcare providers and insurers. This may have been a contact point that HNSS made years back that led to HNSS finding out about the huge need for cheap medical supplies and their possible current relationship with AOK.

This SAP technology must have worked incredibly well:

For each of the 600
requests posted so far, an average of five or six quotes were submitted,
in some instances at prices well below negotiated
contract prices. The average savings: more than 10%.

Spurred on by the success of the initial project, two other AOK
regional organizations went live with the mySAP SRM solution
in late 2002. Similarly positive results led to the decision to roll
out the solution across Germany

If HNSS sells their product in Germany, they will likely be distributing at least part of their product through AOK.

IMO
