Ecogate Master System Recognized for Energy Cost Reduction
An Independent Audit Report by Focus Energy Cites Ecogate Master System for Significant Energy Cost Reduction at Kolbe & Kolbe Manufacturing Plant
GLENDALE, Calif., Mar 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE via COMTEX) -- Ecogate, Inc. (Pink Sheets:ECGT), a manufacturer and supplier of patented, energy efficient and eco-friendly integrated industrial ventilation systems, announced that the Company's Ecogate System has been cited for its outstanding performance in an independent audit about energy savings conducted at Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Co., Inc. in Wasau, WI. The report was conducted in 2004 by Focus on Energy (www.focusonenergy.com), a public-private partnership offering energy information and services to energy utility customers throughout the State of Wisconsin.
By installing the Ecogate System, Kolbe & Kolbe has lowered its electricity use by over 1.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, saving an estimated $125,000 in annual energy costs. Additionally, Kolbe & Kolbe's natural gas consumption was reduced by 14 percent, or 70,000 therms per year which is enough to heat 70 average Wisconsin homes. The reduced gas consumption is attributed to the Ecogate System which lowers the volume of heated air that is exchanged by automatically closing gates at non-working machinery.

The dust collector upgrade project at Kolbe & Kolbe's manufacturing plant involved the installation of over 50 motorized Ecogates on individual vents from each woodworking machine, sensor, two variable speed drives and a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) system. The PLC is used to adjust electricity usage and reduce make-up air requirements for ventilation. Make-up air is fresh air that must be brought in to replace polluted air that contains large amounts of dust or other particles which varies in a wide range from 10 to 100 percent of a facility's ventilation requirement. Since the incoming make-up air must be heated or cooled, reducing the amount needed can save significantly on electricity and natural gas costs.
