All your questions are very valid and yes, all that DID happen during the hunt bros days BUT so many incredibly beautiful US coins were melted in brand new uncirculated condition it decimated the known surviving populations of each date so I honestly do not think the coin dealers will allow it to go on this time.......... BUT you can be certain scrap gold, permanently scratched or damaged coins, any jewlery containing gold coins & gold bezels will be melted this time around. My guess is the rest will be saved and hoarded by wealthy dealers.

People and dealers are willing to pay HUGE premiums for those coins that are basically blemish free and have ratings of like BU 60 to 65 and will retain them for their numismatic value for their customers.

God, what to tell you to buy?? That is so hard without knowing an approximate ballpark of what you want to spend. If you have limited resources, I would recommend silver. If you have over the low 5 digits to spend I would recommend a partial roll of $20 double eagles for their numismatic value and potential growth. If you just wanted $20 double eagles for their bullion value than Kuggerands, Maple leafs, or American Eagles would do the trick.

You have my email address, In confidence, write me there with your requirements and maybe I can help steer you towards a source to fulfill your needs.

Best, Steve smile
