One Million Voices Against Prostate Cancer – One Too Many – To Launch This Father’s Day Weekend in Minor League Baseball™ Parks Around The USA
http://www.neom.com/press-detail.php?id=70
(My note: have been away some the past week or so; did I miss this posted? Sorry if duplicate. This has already happened. No official PR I guess.)

New York, NY (June 17, 2010) -- By Father’s Day 2011, you will hear more than 1,000,000 voices telling American fathers, sons, brothers, uncles and friends that prostate cancer testing saves lives. That is the goal of the One Too Many: One Million Voices Against Prostate Cancer mobile campaign that kicks off next weekend at Minor League Baseball parks across the country.

This effort is led by Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about prostate cancer and supported by a partnership of mobile companies.

The campaign enables Minor League Baseball fans – and fans of men everywhere – to add their names, email addresses, and zip codes to a simple web-based form on their computers or their mobile phones starting this Father’s Day weekend at twenty six ball parks across the country. The ultimate objective is to collect 1,000,000 “voices” by Father’s Day 2011.

One Too Many: One Million Voices Against Prostate Cancer will officially launch its first of many planned campaigns on Friday, June 18th, and run through Sunday, June 20th, at Minor League Father’s Day baseball games across the country.

The campaign’s ultimate objective is to collect 1,000,000 “voices” by Father’s Day 2011 and send those voices to Washington D.C. to make it clear that men, women, and children are demanding sweeping policy changes and governmental action that promotes prostate cancer awareness, detection, treatment, and ongoing research.

One Too Many is part of Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about prostate cancer. The campaign is a joint effort between Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure and Renu Mobile™, a Boston-based company that created and will manage the campaign and that also donated the short code for texting; NeoMedia™, a premier mobile barcode technology developer that has created the campaign’s mobile barcode; and Neustar™, a leading clearing house for mobile communications and IP that will securely process all of the campaign’s mobile barcode transactions.

“As part of our nationwide road show, visiting the majority of Minor League Baseball teams in the US, we are taking advantage of the many Father’s Day weekend games to get the word out – that early detection of prostate cancer through a simple PSA blood test can extend the lives of millions of men,” said Ed Randall, founder and CEO of Bat For The Cure. “We are thrilled that now, fans of Bat For the Cure can immediately – at the ballpark, using their mobile phone – contribute to our effort to make sure every man on this Earth who is over thirty knows that taking this simple blood test – and more importantly, taking ownership of their health – can keep them alive longer for the wives, partners, children, and friends who love them.”

“When we learned about what Ed and his team were doing, we immediately decided to help,” said Carol Glennon, CEO of Renu Mobile. “We wanted to make it possible for every person moved by the work Bat For The Cure is doing to be able to add their voice. In the future, we will be delivering more applications, including a look-up for clinics where the PSA blood tests can be taken, and many other innovations that break down the barriers so that after a man is educated, he or his friends and family can easily act. Ed Randall has already saved lives – and it is an honor for us to help him save many more.”

“Minor League Baseball is again proud to join forces with our Homegrown Charity Partner this Father’s Day weekend in their efforts in One Million Voices Against Prostate Cancer Movement to be conducted in many of our ballparks,” said Tim Purpura, MiLB Executive Vice President & COO. “Ed Randall’s passion to help save lives through early detection of prostate cancer is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts and one that is worthy of the efforts of so many individuals in the Minor League Baseball family. Each year through Ed’s efforts, lives are saved, and we have no doubt that this year’s campaign will yield similar results. We look forward to a great weekend of education and participation by our fans and the many friends of Minor League Baseball in what will no doubt be a most memorable series of events.”
