Nestle's Nesquik Bunny Joins Chocolate
Milk Fans to Set New Guinness World
Record; The World's Largest Bunny
Hop Gets Kids Moving for Strong Bones
and Healthy Bodies

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2001--More than 1,434
chocolate milk fans joined the Nestle
Nesquik Bunny Tuesday and set a new
world's record -- the largest bunny hop,
according to Guinness World Records
(unofficial).

The record-breaking event was in
celebration of Nesquik's new fortified
formula, which now contains a boost in
calcium to build strong bones and several
essential vitamins such as vitamin C and
biotin for healthy bodies.

Hopping along at Los Angeles' Universal
CityWalk, more than 1,400 children
"bunny-hopped" for seven minutes,
unofficially breaking the previous record
of five minutes and 1,241 people. The day
also kicked off the launch of the new
Nesquik fitness program -- the Nestle
Nesquik Fit Kids Challenge -- which
encourages kids to exercise.

"Kids have always loved how Nesquik
makes drinking milk more fun and
delicious," said Reid Leslie, Nesquik
marketing manager, Nestle USA --
Beverage Division. "This new fortified
formula is the ultimate combination for
parents -- same great Nesquik taste their
kids love combined with more of the
vitamins and minerals their kids need."

Nesquik, the nation's No. 1 selling
chocolate milk mix, recently introduced its
fortified powder, making it easier for
moms to provide essential nutrients for
their children. Nesquik powder is now
fortified with calcium, vitamin C, vitamin
B6, biotin, zinc, copper and manganese.
When combined with milk, the new
fortified powder provides 40 percent of
the daily value for calcium.

"Current research shows that children do
not receive adequate calcium to build
proper bone mass," said Leslie.

The National Academy of Sciences
recommends that children ages 4 to 8 get
800 mg of calcium (about three 8-fluid
ounce glasses of milk) daily and children
ages 9 to 18 should get 1,300 mg of
calcium (about four 8-fluid ounce glasses
of milk) every day. However, according to
the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture:

-- 2 out of 3 kids in the United States aren't
getting the

required calcium intake

-- The more calcium you deposit in your
early years, the more you

will have later in life.

"Nesquik created its fortified powder to
provide additional essential vitamins and
minerals children need for strong bone
development," added Leslie. "Most
children like chocolate milk better than
regular milk. Fortified Nesquik helps
moms provide a fun and delicious way to
increase children's calcium intake."

Nesquik has owned its No. 1 distinction
since 1954. An icon brand to American
consumers, Nesquik is sold in more than
100 countries around the world and is
available in chocolate and strawberry
powder, as well as in a convenient
ready-to-drink form in chocolate, fat-free
chocolate, strawberry and banana flavors.
Nesquik is also available in chocolate and
strawberry flavored syrup.

In 1998, Nesquik celebrated its 50th
anniversary and the 25th birthday of the
product's Nesquik Bunny.
