SUMMARY
The Collier’s River Property, currently held by Kat Exploration Inc. of Clarenville, is
suggestive of a Volcanic Redbed Copper (VRC) style of mineralization. A shaft at the
main site of mineralization examined was documented by Alexander Murray in the
1850’s and a second shaft is said to exist in the area as is reports of native copper.
At the time of writing, both are unsubstantiated.
The area requires additional “grassroots” exploration work including prospecting,
channel sampling and preliminary geological mapping of a more expansive area
within the area of the main prospect.
Geological elements present all suggest a continental to shallow marine setting and a
significant redbed horizon is present. Contact relationships between the volcanic and
sedimentary rocks are uncertain at present.
High-graded grab samples from the main prospect area have assayed to 23.6%
copper and over 236 g/t silver. Many of the observations made are suggestive of a
VRC environment
