LOS ANGELES, CA, Jun 12, 2002 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Q-NET TECHNOLOGIES, INC., (QNTI) has announced the formal product launch of their Q Reader, a multifunctional electronic reading device at two international expositions held in Bejing, China from May 23-25. Over 800, 000 people attended the International Technology Show, according to event organizers, the China Council on International Trade, while over 1 million people were expected to attend the Book and Publishing Fair.

Q-Net has received initial orders for 24,700 of the bi-lingual Q-Readers from 20 distributors in 18 provinces. Plans call for 30,000 units to be delivered during the last half of the year.

The Q-Reader is a handheld device, approximately the size of an average novel with a large, readable screen, that can download, store and display 25-30 books of between 250 and 300 pages each, known as "E-Books," as well as periodicals and research materials. In addition to reading capabilities, the unit features Internet connectivity, with full sized text, e-mail and PDA functions, all in the English and Chinese languages.

The Q-Reader was developed in conjunction with the Liaoning Publishing Group (LPG), one of the most advanced publishers in Asia.

"We were thrilled by the reception given to the Q-Reader by publishers, electronics distributors and government officials," said Frederic R. Mann, II, President and Chief Executive Officer of Q-Net. "The device has been seen as presenting new opportunities to expand education and communications worldwide. The globalization of literature and educational resources is well underway."

With offices in China and in the US, Q-Net Technologies has developed and provides electronic publishing, software and computer systems in China and throughout the Pacific Rim.
