how the MMs could be detected by accumulation or selling?
Notice today on the RCCH chart(below), MMs were covering, not buying...The PPS stayed @ the level they were covering and ChiOse went up significantly, but MFI(Money Flow) was going lower. This can either be buying @ the bid or short covering, by MMs, or both; since they will cover @ the lows then start accumulation before the PPS goes up.....
At times I have seen ChiOsc go down while the PPS is continuing up, this is an indication of MMs selling into the run. Now that the shorting rule has changed to allow shorting on the way down, they can cover on the way down, this also makes it easier for them to short a stock into the ground.
When MMs are accumulating ChiOsc will go up and MFI will follow. MFI shows positive and negative money into and out of the stock.
All of this is designed to confuse everyone.
OBV is for tracking Registered shares, only. Accum/Dist is for tracking Retail shares bought by the unregistered share holder, usually those not in the know.
The bottom bollinger Band isn't used to detect shorting, it is a percentage indicator of the PPS movement. The bottom bollinger will go down fast when a stock has a low beta, and makes a significant move. MMs will usually keep the "close of the day" in a tight range to bring the Bottom B Band up to the PPS area before taking the PPS up. A good book to read for Bollinger Bands is "Bollinger on Bollinger Bands" by Bollinger.
