Personal Pocket Safe(TM) Named CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Award Honoree

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Dec 10, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Black Box Innovations today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the Personal Pocket Safe(TM). Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products.
As the initial product in Black Box Innovation's take(TM) line of portable technology, the Personal Pocket Safe(TM) allows users to easily organize and archive all the important documents and data in their daily lives such as bank statements, credit card bills, insurance policies and online passwords. Creatively infusing easy-to-use software with a compact USB-compatible smart drive and multiple layers of cutting edge security, the Pocket Safe puts the power of today's technology into a package accessible to tech-users of all comfort levels.

As a widely renowned consumer technology awards program that began in 1976, the prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognize achievements in product design and engineering. It is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)(R), the producer of the International CES, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the voice of industrial design, committed to advancing the profession through education, information, community and advocacy.
Black Box Innovations' Personal Pocket Safe(TM) will be displayed at the 2009 International CES, which runs January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian, Booth #72062.
The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
-- Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used
-- Aesthetic and design qualities, using photos provided
-- The product's intended use/function and user value
-- Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive
Products chosen as an Innovations honoree reflect innovative design and engineering of the entries. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.
Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering honoree products are featured on www.CESweb.org/Innovations, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.
