I see your point, its possible that if housing was curbed back then, bubble prices would not have the effect they had because the would not be as high and wide. it could be fair to say that less money in the housing market would have inspired other industries to prosper, say the auto's. only a select few hedge funds and housing flippers gained the most from the rise and fall. the rest of us just take it on the chin.
