In reply to your post here are FACTS with links as requested.

Per latest company issued PR Sept 08
"The reports raised questions about the status of ERHC rights in JDZ Blocks 5 and 6."
http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/080908/0431712.html

This does not affect ERHC's core holdings in blocks 2, 3, & 4, which Addax is now reporting as having 1,841 MMbbl unrisked (revised upward from previous presentations) in just the main prospects. 16.8% (50.5% out of 300% total interest) of that is ERHC's, a total of nearly 310 MMbbl. ERHC's PSCs in these blocks have been recognized and approved by the JDA. See ih.fotothing.com/52357.gif

AND just very recently Addax and ERHC were still clarifying and negotiating thru arbitration in court over the rights.

http://biz.yahoo.com/cnw/080716/addax_petroleum_jdz.html?.v=1

This actually increased their interest in block 4 by 1.8% more than what they had when Godsonic had the interest. That arbitration was held under amicability. So no worries there. To the contrary, Addax has recently (August 1st) even strengthened ties with ERHC's largest shareholder (Chrome/SEO). http://biz.yahoo.com/cnw/080801/addax_gov_approval.html?.v=1

AND AS WELL: You State: "ERHC legal counsel has confirmed any U.S. investigations are not active and the statute of limitations has passed"

If you read thru the latest ERHE SEC filing under legal proceedings it says: "The investigations by the DOJ, SEC and Senate Subcommittee are continuing."
http://yahoo.brand.edgar-online.com/displayfilinginfo.aspx?FilingID=6094228-81060-84703&type=sect&dcn=0001140361-08-018937

To repeat, the U.S. Government has no jurisdiction in the JDZ. The Sao Tomean Attorney General's report of innuendo and conjecture, which evidently triggered these investigations, was rebuffed by the Nigerian government. http://www.legaloil.com/NewsItem.asp?DocumentIDX=1138528757&Category=news
The Feds raided ERHC's Houston office on April 1, 2006 and carted away 118 boxes of material. But after nearly two and a half years, they have not managed to issue even an indictment. You call this active?

Bottom line: ERHC's interests in JDZ blocks 2, 3, & 4 could be worth $21.7 billion at $70/barrel. There are costs and taxes to figure in, but if ERHC (for argument's sake) were to net 1/10 of that, the stock would be worth about $3. All their other potential interests (JDZ/EEZ) are just gravy. Each investor has his own risk/reward parameters, but as for me, at 3 shares/buck, I like the odds. If, on the other hand, I was as squeamish about ERHC as you, I wouldn't waste my time reading and posting to this board. In any case, it doesn't appear you can be convinced that ERHC is a worthy investment, so hasta le vista. You have been added to my ignore list.
