jwperk -- this is an open forum -- and that is completely beside the point in this little chit-chat we're having

you threw at me language straight out of the McCarthy era used to brand as traitors Americans who wouldn't submit to his and his fellow travelers' profoundly anti-American bullshit -- pretty fucking daring of you, I would, and did, and again do, say

answer the question -- on what basis did you say that to me, try to label me like that? -- in what sense did you 'understand' that anything I've ever said could possibly have such a meaning? -- what the hell were you thinking? -- why specifically did you say that to me?

I deserve an answer from you on this -- what have I ever said that you thought in any way 'advocated' anarchy or resorting to violence as any sort of a way to deal with any of our current national issues? -- things going in any such direction is absolutely the last thing we need -- among other things (e.g. those on my side of the debate generally aren't the ones with all the guns, I myself have never even fired someone else's, let alone owned one), any such scenario would guarantee the immediate overt imposition of the absolute fascist dictatorship (and all the government violence that that would entail) which I do see as being all set up and ready to go if only the current bunch, or the McCain bunch after them, can find/fabricate the excuse they think enough of the population would swallow

it has always been my opinion that the only possibly effective answer to any of this is mass non-violent action -- so long as we have our Constitution and at least some semblance of real elections, first and foremost in the elections -- just as it's supposed to be -- if we go all the way in, well, either we're stuck as the slaves and soldiers of the new fascism, or enough of us get some serious spine and carry out enough nonviolent general strikes and mass protests, basically just shutting everything down with the full understanding that such actions will be met by violence with many not coming back, to drive the dictatorial government from power and reclaim our true heritage as a nation that at least tries to be a nation of laws that respects and protects basic rights
