Fear causes you to panic and sell at the bottom, while greed motivates you to buy right near the top. These are the driving factors behind the crowd's yo-yo mentality. In order not to get caught up in the fear-greed syndrome, set time aside each weekend to unemotionally scan your charts. You really only need an hour for this chore, but obviously the more time you can spare, the better. Make up a list of the few outstanding potential buys that you see among the many charts. Then, each night, chart and follow these few stocks plus any other issues in your portfolio. This simple exercise will help you develop a much more sensitive market feel. In addition, instead of being overwhelmed and con- tinually whipsawed, you'll feel relaxed and confident as you follow your profitable game plan.
