Headwaters Inc. (HW) said it and Evonik Industries AG have more than doubled production capacity for hydrogen peroxide at the facility they operate jointly in Ulsan, Korea.
The technology licensing company said its joint venture with Evonik, HeadwatersEvonik, will supply the hydrogen peroxide to customers in Korea and to the adjacent facility operated by Seoul's SKC.
Headwaters said SKC will start one of the first production facilities for propylene oxide, which is used to make polyurethane, based on the HPPO process wherein hydrogen peroxide and propylene are the starting products.
HeadwatersEvonik is now working on a new catalytic direct synthesis route for the production of hydrogen peroxide.
