We used to congregate at the icy corners. When cars stopped, the boys would sneak up behind them and grab the bumpers. They'd be stuck. The girls would offer them a push.
Then everyone would give a mighty heave and the car would be on it's way. A few drivers would stop a little further on and give us a few coins for our assistance. We only needed to work the scam a few times before everyone could enjoy visiting the candy counter.

P.S. I live in a seniors' development now. I can't imagine the old guys squatting behind cars. Sadly, some memories cannot be relived.
