Penrith is about 33.6 miles virtually straight west (inland) of Sydney and averages 4.3C (7.7F) higher than Sydney CBD. i'm only 6 miles inland so probably
just short of your record yesterday. With an open window, a slight breeze, multi glasses of water and a small towel repeatably drenched - and power so
internet on - it was easy for me, thanks. Sadly a couple of deaths, but nothing fatally comparable to your country's freeze figures. Cloudy and cooler today.
