At one point in trading Monday, the share price of Walter Investment Management Corp. was up a mouth-watering 25.6 percent to $0.91 a share – not bad for a company that’s going through a bankruptcy reorganization. But from what we can tell, there was no official news from Walter, the parent company of Ditech Financial, the nation’s 11th largest servicer…

Will 2018 be the year that loanDepot finally goes public? That’s hard to say, but eventually, LD’s investors will want to cash out. Perhaps, a large debt offering instead?...

As expected, the conference version of the GOP tax reform bill will set the cap on debt eligible for the mortgage interest deduction at $750,000 for homes purchased on Jan. 1 and beyond, down from the current limit of $1.0 million. And beginning in tax year 2018, a deduction won’t be allowed for interest paid on home-equity loans…
