being a bit tacky here, maybe picky....lol....actually this is not the Lord's Prayer, it is the prayer he taught His disciples......the Lord's Prayer is actually John 17.........

Ya'll made me, forced me to go to my Interpreter's Bible and seek info.....from there I learned----"TEMPTATION is an ambiguous term.....It might be "trial," i.e. suffering or persecution. More probably, "a situation in which one is exposed to the seductions of sin." Some of the early fathers felt that this fifth petition reflected on God's providence, and interpreted it to mean: "Do not allow us to fall into temptation"---

Way over my head here, but for discussion purposes....James 1:13--"Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted by god, for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone....after the Interpreter"s Bible I went to my Interpreter's Dictionary and there got more confused,,,lol,,,way back in ancient times we can find " Do not let us succumb to temptation."....then there are Aramaic idiom which could be translated: "Do not let us go under temptation." The Jewish prayer Book used it this way--"Lead us not into sin or------temptation----then one of the words used is interpreted--- means primarily a testing, and not an enticement to sin. We know Jesus was tempted/tested, so a prayer for deliverance from temptation is in order.....NOW!!!! Back to Lead us not into temptation.....I often tell folks that way back in Jesus's time they had a row boat full of words, then come time to interpret into our language we find that we have an air craft carrier full of words, the folks doing the interpretations did the best they could do in finding the right word to fit and sometimes just did not get it right, but read, talk with God and true meaning will come to you-----if you are happy with the understanding & you believe God is happy then don't worry about what someone else thinks......you gotta answer for yourself-----If you get to Digg'n around on this do not over look, snare, test, tempt, provoke, trials, then also testing under trials, also proving by testing........

If I may-----I would be willing to wager that when the prayer is used in church most folks just recite what they learned and pay little to no attention to what the prayer actually says, which in my opinion results in no communication, just going through the steps making one feel better about themselves, but then maybe I am totally wrong on that

As you can see, once you really start Digg'n into a subject in Scripture God only knows where you will end up

Speaking of prayer, a young lady over here was in a terrible auto accident and in really serious condition, prayers were ask for, I thin it was close to 600 people responded.....I had several private messages concerning this young lady, then the girl in the accident got better and came home, I received a private message with thanks for the prayers,,,,,I responded that all who offered prayers and experienced the healing power of prayer now have a testimony to share with folks........I have not heard anymore.....disturbs me a little, I am not judging as folks get real busy , but often I do wonder if folks take the time to tell God thanks for the helping hand or if things get better they just move on......HUMMMM
