Warrants are convertible into 6 month RESTRICTED shares. That means that they cannot short against them. That leaves them out of the market for at least 6 months if they want to short against them. If they want to start the 6 month clock ticking before the 6 month hold then they are paying cash to the company upfront for shares they can't sell for 6 months at the least.
