Actually, you will be doing better than him. If you set aside $10K for a short, the most you could possibly profit is by keeping all $10K is the underlying stock goes to zero. However, if you put those $10K into a bullish position, you could easily make many times the money. $100K and even more. Just think about this, Tesla was around $30 just a few years back. Now it is about ten times as much. If one believed in EV but not in NAT a few years ago, it would have been the extreme of foolery to short WPRT. Any smart person would have, simply, invested in EV. $10K would now be about $100K. People with such narrow-minded outlooks should not be paid attention to. Ultimately, they are most likely to be wrong, and when they are right it was just a matter of luck.
