Mom Warning Parents after Kid’s Bath Bomb Burns 5-Year-Old Daughter’s Skin

After a negative experience with a Hatchimals-brand children’s bath bomb product, a mother took to social media to share her story.

Jennifer Woodruff claims the product injured her daughter, and is advising other parents to think twice before purchasing the item.

Bath bombs are fizzy fun that can make a trip to the bathtub a little more enjoyable for kids.

The Hatchimals brand is particularly fun because hidden inside the bath bomb is a special surprise — a toy.

Woodruff purchased the bath bomb for her 5-year-old daughter, Willow. She claims that less than one minute into Willow’s bath, her daughter complained that her skin hurt.

Willow’s hands appeared “red and swollen,” according to Woodruff. She took her daughter to the doctor, who confirmed that Willow had a chemical burn on her hands.

Woodruff said she followed the directions on the packet. Her daughter had never experienced an adverse reaction to a bath bomb before, leading Woodruff to believe this particular product was the culprit.

Woodruff’s Facebook post, which has since been removed from the public eye, quickly went viral. Others began questioning the safety of the product, manufactured by GBG Beauty.

Woodruff later updated her Facebook post, explaining she had contacted the company and explained what happened to her daughter.

She made the assumption that the particular batch number would be recalled, but at the time of writing, GBG Beauty has not issued any product recall.

“I called the company and the batch number [is] being investigated and is likely going to be recalled as numerous reports have been made,” Woodruff wrote on Facebook. She added that not all complaints included a chemical burn reaction.

“It is so easy for a person working in a factory to overdo the ingredients in a batch and just ignore it,” Woodruff added.

Her reason for posting, she said, was to warn other parents and advise them to exercise caution before giving a Hatchimals bath bomb to their child.

If the product has you a little concerned, consider what Woodruff has in mind: “All natural ones from now on.”

If the product has you really concerned, just play it safe and make your own — at least you have control over the ingredients.

The batch number in question is HZ062HBAZATUR.
